I think it's about time for another dragon, and he's a corker. A huge wall hanging dragon with a penny in for scale. The way it shapes the light coming through its wings and neck is fantastic!

Glass dragon on a wooden candle stick

A while ago I had a commission for a Glass dragon on a wooden candle stick. The candle stick was made by David Thomas who lives in a beautiful wooded valley not far away. Some one asked me what the wood was and I had to say "Tree wood". I was completely stumped. :) The same customer asked me to do a dragon on another rally nice yew candle stick from David.  Here's the picture of the one they've taken away:

Glass Dragon on a rock

I've been working at a dragon on a rock. It's turned out really well. I found the rock in a local stream, put it through the dishwasher and made a dragon to go on it... Great fun. Wendy's colors work very well by enhancing the form. Here's a picture of it:

Glass dragon on slate from the mountain

I went up the mountain to get a piece of slate for a glass dragon I made. Here in North Wales we do have a generous amount of slate, so it only seems right that a dragon created in Wales should sit proudly on a piece of its home land.  Anyway here is the picture of The Glass Dragoon mounted on the slate base:

I'm sure everyone knows what dragons like to eat...

What did the dragon say when he saw St George in his shining armour?
It’s a good job I like tinned food!

Glass Sky Dragon Flying

As I made a Nordic Viking Warrior yesterday it reminded me of a glass Sky Dragon I made some time ago.
Time travels and we learn new stuff. Last year I was shown a dragon from a game that was released in November 2011. It had a striking resemblance to a dragon I made in 1992. I dug out the old sketch book and notes. In those days I made the wings using a different technique, which took more time than I wanted to give it.  So I thought I would have a go at re-making it with the techniques I use today. Here’s the picture of it:

If you want to see more glass dragons you can go to the Glassblobbery website.
It’s interesting going into past student and later design ideas books from my early days on the burner. I think I‘ll redo some of the older designs and let you see them on future posts.
I was thinking about the similarity between dragons and dinosaurs, as any insane person would. I’m sure dragons were about long before dinosaurs.

What’s the difference between the dinosaur and a dragon…? Obvious really. Dinosaurs are too young to SMOKE!

On that note I’ll go....

Montgomery glass dragon for Christmas 2012

As I mentioned last time I was going to show you a picture of this years Montgomery glass dragon;
Each year the Dragon Hotel in Montgomery asked me to design dragons, which they give to there guests. So this is the one we’ve decided create for this year.
